DIGITAL BANKING TRANSFORMATION WITH NUTANIX CLOUD

RANSFORMING CUSTOMER:

  • Nutanix Cloud Platform
  • Nutanix AHV
  • Nutanix Prism

Challenges:

A leading financial services provider in UAE faced significant challenges with its legacy three-tier infrastructure. As digital banking adoption surged, the bank struggled with inefficiencies that hindered innovation and increased operational complexity. Key pain points included:

  • Complex IT management: Managing storage, networking, and server resources required excessive manual effort.
  • Scalability limitations: The infrastructure could not support the rapid expansion of digital services.
  • High power and hardware costs: The increasing IT footprint led to rising costs in both hardware and energy consumption.
  • Inefficient disaster recovery (DR): The existing DR setup was inadequate for the bank’s growing reliance on IT services.
  • Slow processing performance: Lengthy system reboots and batch processing times hampered efficiency.

With increasing compliance requirements and a growing customer base relying on digital banking, the bank’s IT leadership recognized the need for a modern, streamlined infrastructure

Results & Benefits:

  • 50% Reduction in IT Administration & Faster Deployments By eliminating complexity in managing networking, storage, and compute resources, the bank achieved a 50% reduction in IT administration efforts. Deployment times for new services were cut from days to just hours, improving agility in launching new digital banking solutions.
  • Lower Hardware and Power Costs: The transition to Nutanix reduced hardware requirements by 50% and cut power consumption by 30%, resulting in significant cost savings.
  • Reliable Disaster Recovery & Security Enhancements: With an advanced DR solution in place, the bank now ensures seamless failover capabilities, maximizing resource utilization and minimizing downtime risks. Nutanix Flow’s microsegmentation feature further enhances security by isolating applications to prevent unauthorized access.

Solution:

To address these challenges, the bank engaged with Tocumulus, an experienced technology solutions provider, to implement a hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) solution. After a thorough evaluation and proof-of-concept testing, the bank transitioned to a Nutanix-based private cloud infrastructure. The implementation included:

  • Active/standby two-data-center design with three Nutanix NX8035 nodes at each site to host around 100 workloads.
  • Nutanix Prism for centralized infrastructure management, simplifying IT administration.
  • Nutanix AHV as the hypervisor to improve virtualization efficiency.

The deployment was executed seamlessly, with minimal disruption to banking operations. The bank migrated its critical workloads, including mobile and internet banking applications, microfinance solutions, enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), and database systems, to the Nutanix private cloud.

Conclusion:

By partnering with Tocumulus and leveraging Nutanix’s hyperconverged infrastructure, the bank successfully modernized its IT operations. The transformation has enabled the financial institution to scale efficiently, improve system performance, and enhance customer experiences while ensuring long-term cost savings and security resilience. With a future-ready infrastructure, the bank is well-positioned to continue its digital banking expansion with confidence.
